This is a frivolous page, but one that I enjoyed reconstructing. It
consists of primarily two outings with a couple of other items thrown in.
The first is a trip to Sheffied to ride a double decker bus and shows the
complexity of driving on the streets of the UK. The second outing was an
overnight to Lincoln, a lovely old city.

This is why driving is so different in the UK. Many roads become single
lanes because of the parked cars. |

I have never seen heather. It was a little
|

And, there is a lot of it. |

Mama wouldn't slow down so the picture is a little fuzzy. |

John, my host, took me to a fishing museum in Grimsby. The fishing
industry here employed 3200 people at one time. Now, only a fraction.
Because of the cramped quarters on the trawler and the number of people,
photos were not possible. |

OK, so I am hung up on showing my B&Bs. This may be the tiniest I ever
was in. |

That pen is five inches long. There is no way to get your face over
the sink. The stool and shower were outside my room, down the hall. |

I couldn't believe it when I saw Popeye. What is the story here?
|

At least I had a room with a view. But, probably every house in
Lincoln has a view of the cathedral at night. |

This street is appropriately named Steep Hill. |

And, it goes down as well as up. |

This is a prison chapel in the castle at Lincoln. It is one of a kind
as it is built so no prisoner can see another prisoner. They wear
hoods to be put in place, then barriers are closed between them for the two
hours they will lean against a seat that is built at a 45 degree angle to
the floor.
|

A view from the castle wall. Sorry no pictures of the castle. |

I took a boat ride down the old Roman built canal in Lincoln. Notice
the narrow boats built to navigate the narrow canals.
|

Never far from a pint. |

And what a stroke of luck. A chance to make up a Rotary meeting. |

They had twenty four ales to sample. I met and talked with some fine fellows
from the Lindum Rotary Club. |
