The nearest large city to Fishlake is Doncaster about fifteen miles away or thirty minutes by bus.  I rode the bus often as it was a convenient way to get back and forth without worrying about parking.  Also, I didn't have to trouble my hosts asking for a ride.  I had a car hired for the duration of the trip, but for a variety of reasons decided to give it up early into the visit.  I got around quite nicely on public buses, trams, and trains.

Here is an example of the old and new from the inside.

Here is what it looks like from the outside.

This is the Doncaster Crest.  It was explained beautifully by Paul Lawson, our guide through the Mansion House.

Chandeliers in the ballroom.

The oven where meals were cooked.  No longer used.

A clock made by Huntsman who discovered a new means of hardening steel while making the clock.  He later founded Sheffield Steel.

The symbol of authority carried by the Lord Mayor and present for all official meetings of the council.

I exchanged banners with the Thorne Rotary Club president.

From a small pub in Bawtry came some of the best food I have ever eaten.  David, the cook, and Nicola, the manager made me feel very welcome.

Shopping at a small farm market in the country.

I tried to pickup a local girl, but she was too heavy.

A sub segment of the Doncaster experience is the market.  I find the market entertaining.  You may also.  To see and hear the market click here.
